24 April 2016, DUBAI: One of the region’s most prominent men’s health specialists – Dr Nabil Mitry of the British Urology Centre (www.britishurology.com) – has taken up a new residence in Dubai at The Private Clinic in Jumeirah.
Urology is the science of the diseases of the urinary tract: incorporating areas such as the kidneys, ureters, bladder, urethra, and prostate in men.
Often viewed as a sensitive area of medical care, Dr Mitry has been treating cases in the country for more than thirty years, and is a vocal advocate of regular testing – especially for prostate issues.
“According to recent statistics published by the American Cancer Society, about one man in every seven will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime,” warned Dr Mitry. “Prostate cancer develops mainly in older men – about six cases in ten are diagnosed in men aged 65 or older – however, this is an area of health that no man, young or old, should ignore. Regular check-ups are a must, in exactly the same way that women go for breast exams.”
A fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, Dr Mitry trained in some of the UK’s top teaching hospitals, and is a regular participant in international medical conferences and publications.
He is also an acknowledged expert in male reproductive health and its surrounding issues.
